Audience + Positioning
The primary audience is parents of young children who are beginning to engage with the Internet independently. They want to make sure that their kids are informed and responsible with their Internet usage. The secondary audience is children aged 7-10 who are just starting to get their own devices, like a first cellphone. They are gaining, sometimes unrestricted, access to the Internet and social media. They are often eager to explore the vast varieties of content, and even may want to start creating their own. Having separate targeted itineraries for the parents and their children helps individualize the approaches of the event for each audience, giving both groups the tools they need to feel more informed and helping them start a dialogue about media literacy.
